How do I get referred to Berkshire Imaging?

You usually need to be referred by the GP, Consultant, Physiotherapist, Chiropractor etc looking after you for your investigation / procedure. Please note that if the imaging uses x-rays or other ionizing radiation – i.e. CT, fluoroscopy - only certain people, usually Consultants or GPs, are allowed to request this sort of imaging.The requester sends a request card for the investigation required and outlines the relevant clinical details.We will usually contact you or send out an appointment including the details of the preparation for the investigation.  

How long will I have to wait for an MRI/CT?

We try very hard to give you an appointment that is convenient for you. This will be sent out to you in the post. The waiting time for an MRI or CT is usually about one to two weeks.  

How do I get the results of my imaging?

Berkshire Imaging produces a typed report which is sent directly to the person who referred you for the imaging. Please contact your referring doctor or practitioner. Berkshire Imaging clerical staff are not permitted to disclose your imaging results. 

How long does it take to produce the report of my imaging?

Usually 2-3 days. Some specialised tests may take a little longer, especially if a specific radiologist is required to interpret them. 

Is it okay to wear make-up and hairspray when having an MRI?

Yes.

Are dental fillings safe in an MRI scanner?  

Yes.
