Financial information

Usually Berkshire Imaging LLP has a contract directly with its patients and expects all fees to be met. If you intend to claim using your health insurance policy, you should contact the insurance company prior to the investigation/procedure to determine that your level of cover is adequate to meet the costs incurred. The insurance company will usually give you an authorization number.

Berkshire Imaging LLP also provides imaging services to private hospitals. For certain services, the hospital will then produce a single bill for the procedure/investigationwhich will include the hospital fee and the consultant's fee.

Benefits paid by insurance companies vary and may not cover all the costs incurred. Common causes of benefit shortfall are given below.

Policy excesses

Many people will have an excess amount on their policy. This may be your personal choice or a feature of the company scheme.

Co-insurance liability

Some policies require the patient to pay a certain percentage of the invoice.

Items not covered by your policy

To reduce premiums, patients may opt to pay for certain parts of their treatment themselves. Insurance companies will not usually cover pre-existing conditions.

Benefit limitations

Some insurance companies limit what the policy will pay for various parts of your treatment. Once this limit is reached, you will be liable for any further costs.

Procedure shortfalls

Each insurance company sets its own reimbursement rates and so some do not cover our charges in full. Payment of any shortfall is the responsibility of the patient, or their parent or guardian. If you are concerned about a potential shortfall, we can provide a guide price for your imaging/procedure and you can then compare this with the amount your insurance company will pay.
