Before your procedure

We will provide detailed information in advance about what to bring with you on the day, where to go, how long the procedure normally takes and so on. If you have any specific questions or concerns, please speak to us and we will be happy to help. Details of how to pay can be found on our Payments page.

We practice from a number of different locations across Reading, including The Royal Berkshire Hospital, The Berkshire Independent Hospital and Dunedin Hospital. Currently, all hospitals are operating enhanced cleaning programmes and safety procedures as well as social distancing to protect against Covid. We would ask you please to comply with the requirements which will be set out in your appointment letter and explained to you on arrival at the hospital. Unfortunately, Covid precautions mean that hospitals are not allowing visitors currently and you will be unable to bring anyone with you to your appointment. If there is a need, please let us know. Please refer to the Covid information page for further details.

If you are unable to attend your appointment, please contact the relevant hospital. You will find contact information on your appointment letter. You are advised not to bring valuables with you into the hospital.

On the day

When you arrive at the hospital you will be registered at reception. This will include some health related questions. Please do not attend the hospital if you or a member of your family has Covid symptoms and please follow the procedures put in place for your own and others’ protection.

Please refer to individual services pages for information about what to expect on the day as the schedule will differ depending on what scan or treatment you are booked in for. After certain procedures, for example if you have been given a sedative, you will be unable to drive yourself home afterwards. In this case you will need to bring someone with you but they will need to wait for you outside of the hospital due to Covid restrictions.

After your procedure

Your clinical team will monitor you after your procedure and advise you when you can go home. You will be given a contact number in case of any questions or concerns after your procedure. Results will be sent to your referring clinician who will contact you to arrange an appointment.

We strive to provide the highest standards of care for all of our patients and welcome your feedback on any aspect of our service. Our aim is to treat you in a professional, timely and compassionate way at all times, so please let us know if any aspect of your treatment falls short of these standards.

Thank you and we look forward to welcoming you.
